Tell us a story, or learn about caribou. Or both!

If you follow the ABMI’s social media, you’ll already know about our What does biodiversity mean to you? writing contest. If not, we have news for you: The ABMI has a writing contest, in partnership with Alberta Views Magazine!

The rules are simple: Submit an original 500 – 750 word essay on what biodiversity means to you—Albertans of all ages are welcome to enter. The only catch is that the deadline to enter is coming up soon, on May 31 at 23:59 Alberta time. The grand prize winner will receive $500 and the chance to have their entry published in Alberta Views Magazine, and there will also be two runner-up prizes of $250. If you need inspiration for your essay and your interests run toward science and research, why not check out a webinar about caribou? Better yet, why not check out a series of webinars about caribou? The ABMI’s Caribou Monitoring Unit has joined forces with the Regional Industry Caribou Collaboration (RICC) and National Boreal Caribou Knowledge Consortium to put on a regular webinar series exploring the latest research on caribou recovery in Canada. The webinars are live at 2 pm MDT on Tuesdays, but are also archived online so you can view them any time. Sign up here for any of the upcoming webinars—the next one is this coming Tuesday, May 26.

Until next time!
